Aug 23, 2010 : Strakka Racing’s remarkable season continues to break records, with a first ever outright win for an LMP2 car in Europe at the Hungaroring yesterday evening. Following on from the squad’s class win at Le Mans in June, which established a new benchmark for LMP2 in terms of pace, distance and overall position, the Strakka HPD rewrote the history books again in Round 4 of the 2010 Le Mans Series in Hungary. Strakka’s driver line-up of Danny Watts, Nick Leventis and Jonny Kane spearheaded an unprecedented top-six sweep by the LMP2 front-runners as the LMP1 prototypes hit widespread reliability issues. » full story
The Peaks and Troughs of Motorsport
Jul 18, 2010 : The team members at Strakka Racing have experienced the full spectrum of emotions inside a month, having won the LMP2 class at Le Mans just four weeks before retiring from Round 3 of the 2010 Le Mans Series in Portugal. Up until the point a rare transmission failure intervened, the race had clearly been heading Strakka’s way, which only made the disappointment doubly telling. » full story
Strakka Racing win makes LMP2 history at Le Mans
Jun 13, 2010 : The final hours of the 78th Le Mans 24 Hours ran every gamut of emotion, from the abject despair of Peugeot, to the euphoric delight of those who won their classes. Strakka Racing is proud not only to have won LMP2 at the team’s first attempt, but to have done so in dominant style; leading from pole to finish; setting a new class lap record; completing the greatest distance ever covered by an LMP2 car; crossing the line in the highest position yet achieved in LMP2 (5th overall), and winning the Michelin Green X Challenge award for Le Mans 2010.
“This has been an unbelievable experience,” admitted Piers Phillips, the Team Manager at Strakka. “We ran from start to finish without a single incident – just one slow puncture on an in-lap. Everything else went exactly to plan. All three drivers rose to the challenge, and the lead that Jonny and Danny established was remarkable. The hardest part of the race was the tension of those last few hours. I want to thank everyone involved with the project: all the members of the team, HPD and Wirth Research for such a remarkable car, and Michelin. The tyres were extraordinary, and we could have triple-stinted every set.” » full story

Strakka on LMP2 Pole at Le Mans
Jun 11, 2010 : In a thrilling first half-hour to the final qualifying session for this year’s 78th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours, Strakka Racing took LMP2 pole with an emphatic run of 3:33.079 from Danny Watts. The team’s Honda Performance Development (HPD) ARX-01c had been in a close-fought duel with Highcroft Racing’s similar car throughout practice and qualifying, but Aylesbury-born Watts found nearly a second and a half to put pole beyond question. » full story
Strakka Reflecting on Spa
May 12, 2010 : The Spa Francorchamps circuit is one of the drivers’ favourites. It has long, fast straights, bracing high-G corners, and complex chicanes and hairpins. It’s a challenging, technical track that sweeps through the forests of the Ardennes, climbing to the heights at Les Combes, and dipping to the seat-hugging lows of Eau Rouge. Much the same could be said of Strakka Racing’s experiences at last weekend’s Spa 1000 Kilometres. From the highs of another dominant qualifying run from Danny Watts, to the disappointment of a race cut short, it had it all, but the team emerged stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever. » full story
